Stream Closure Update

The Alberta stream closures has been lifted, with the exception of St. Mary River. If you're uncertain about rules you can always call your wildlife division district office or visit http://mywildalberta.com/Fishing/Closures.aspx.

EMERGENCY STREAM CLOSURES

Due to high water temperatures and low water levels, there is less oxygen in the water which is causing excessive stress on our fish in Alberta. Catching and releasing fish will cause additional stress and could lead to a higher risk of fish mortality, which is why there are stream closures. Please be sure to double check the rules before you go. If you're uncertain you can always call your wildlife division district office or visit http://mywildalberta.com/Fishing/Closures.aspx. As of right now the effected bodies of water are:

• Bow River from Bearspaw Reservoir to the W.H.D. Weir
• Bow River from W.H.D Weir to the Carseland Weir
• Bow River from Carseland Weir to Highway 24 bridge
• Bow River from Highway 24 bridge downstream to Bassano Dam
• Elbow River from Glenmore Reservoir to the Bow River
• Sheep River from headwaters to the bridge at Indian Oils Day-use site and from the bridge at Indian Oils Day-use site downstream to Gorge Creek, and from Gorge Creek to Highwood River
• Highwood River from headwaters to Kananaskis and from Kananaskis to to Bow River
• St. Mary River, downstream of the St. Mary Reservoir and tributaries
• Belly River, downstream of Secondary Road 800
• Castle River and tributaries downstream of SH 507 to Highway 3, including Screwdriver Creek, Beaver Mines Creek, and Mill Creek
• Jumpingpound Creek from headwaters to the Bow River
• Little Red Deer River and tributaries from headwaters downstream to Red Deer River, including Dogpound Creek and tributaries
• Oldman River from Highway 22 downstream to Secondary Road 510, river only
• Pincher Creek and tributaries
• Sheep River from headwaters to Highwood River - includes tributaries and Gorge Creek
• Threepoint Creek and tributaries
• Waterton River and all tributaries upstream of Waterton Reservoir, including Drywood Creek
• Waterton River downstream of Waterton Reservoir, river only
• Willow Creek, main stem and tributaries from Chain Lakes downstream to Pine Coulee Reservoir Diversion Head pond
