Glenmore Reservoir

Glenmore Reservoir

Glenmore Reservoir is located in the South West of Calgary's city limits, and is fed by the Elbow River and is the source of Calgary's drinking water. It has a self sustaining population of Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout and Mountain Whitefish. Northern Pike are the most common fish caught in the reservoir, but a few Rainbow Trout over 10 pounds are pulled out every year. The west end of the lake is very shallow and has heavy cover from weeds, and is normally fully exposed in the spring when the reservoir water levels are dropped for the spring runoff. Due to the fluctuating water levels of the reservoir fishing in not permitted from November to May.

Glenmore Park is loaded with amenities and is well kept to provide a great outdoor experience for the city of Calgary and visitors. There are walk paths and bike paths throughout the park, with picnic area's that have fire pits and BBQ stands. You can even rent a canoe from the Calgary canoe club on the North end of the park. Glenmore Reservoir is a great place to relax, that's close to home and has something for the whole family to enjoy.
